Freediving Socorro Island - 27.11 - 05.12.2025

Join us on our big fish expedition to the Revillagigedo Archipelago in Mexico. Socorro Island and the rest of the Revillagigedo Archipelago are famous not only for large numbers of oceanic giant manta rays, but also for encounters with more than 10 different species of sharks. We will also have the chance to dive with bottle-nosed dolphins.

Our Freediving Liveaboard Trip starts in Mexico, Baja California, at the port of Cabo San Lucas, from where we will head directly to the Revillagigedo Archipelago for 9 days in search of great wildlife encounters, making this trip a once in a lifetime experience. We will visit at least three of the islands in the archipelago - Socorro, San Benedicto & Roca Partida.

What you can expect - Big Animal Encounters!

Giant manta rays can be seen in many places around the world. But nowhere else a population of giant oceanic manta rays (including the black morph) that literally seek interaction with freedivers.

You will love it! While for many manta rays are the main reason to travel to Socorro, there is much more to big animals to see - We promise! Socorro is known for its abundance of sharks and the large number of shark species that can be encountered there (some in large numbers, others are more rare). We can dive on Socorro with the following sharks: Whitetip Reef Sharks, Silky Sharks, Galapagos Sharks, Deep Sea Sharks, Silvertip Sharks, Hammerheads, Oceanic Whitetip Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Whale Sharks ...

Dolphin groups are very common in the Revillagigedo Archipelago and it is not uncommon to see them as soon as our ship arrives. As with the giant oceanic manta rays, it is also possible to have a unique interaction with a group of bottlenose dolphins. Many divers find that they are accompanied by the friendly squeals and clicks of these playful mammals, even when they are not directly in sight.
Although the above animals are certainly the highlights for most of us, there are many more different types of fish to see and encounter - we promise! We have three scheduled free dives per day - but if there's something going on in the water, we'll be sure to go back in!

Boat / Accommodation

Your comfort is our priority everywhere on board, for this reason we have chosen the Nautilus Explorer for our trip. It is a very safe vessel made of heavy, strong steel construction and extensive soundproofing. The hull shape of the vessel, the passive stability system and the bulbous bow make for a remarkably relaxed ride to our dive sites in the Revillagigedo archipelago.

All nine cabins on the lower deck have en-suite bathrooms with separate showers, central air conditioning and are 90 square feet. Six of the cabins have side-by-side beds. Two of the cabins have large double beds and additional storage space. There is also a mixed triple cabin.

Three superior suites on the hot tub deck measure 145 sq. ft and have large exterior windows. They each have a private bath, desk and either a dresser or closet. Two of these suites have doors leading directly outside. The third suite has a large flat screen TV and DVD player.
Our Premium Suite is also located on the hot tub deck (yes - we will have a hot tub on board!) and is twice the size of the other suites. It has a bedroom and separate living room with a floor-to-ceiling picture window that offers incredible views of the ocean cape. The bathroom even has a full size bathtub.

For those looking for more wildlife encounters - you can join us for another 5 days (3-4 days at sea).

Since it is the right time of year to encounter the Striped Marlin - we will once again head out into the Pacific Ocean in search of one of the fastest fish in the world.
We will take a day trip in a small boat in search of seabirds that will indicate the baitballs that the marlin is looking for. With a little luck we will even see sea lions and sailfish in the middle of the baitballs.

The number of participants is limited to 10
