INSIGHTS INTO A SERIES OF INDOOR COMPETITIONS
As an intro I can say so far: What a journey. Full of emotions. Ups, downs, disappointment, doubts. But then also happiness, pure joy. Everything was there, and it is not finished yet.
COMPETITION 1: SWISS CHAMPIONSHIP - POOL
My start into competitive Freediving was not the best. To be honest: It probably really can’t start worse than with an underwater BO.
My first thought right after was that I want to retry this dive as soon as possible, and make it better in the next competition. But the second thoughts were full of doubts, asking myself if I shouldn’t better cancel everything.
Luckily, thanks to the supportive Kaluna Freediving Tribe Community, I continued and on the same day at the Swiss Championship, I did my second announced dive with a very conservative DNF, way below my PB. This was just to get a white card and finished this day with a clean dive.
Took a lot of leanings from this day, with the goal to make it better for what is to come.
COMPETITION 2: CMAS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - POOL
Main goal for the first WC in Belgrade, Serbia, was to obviously give my all best but most importantly to get white cards with my dives.I made sure to monitor closely signals and surface ahead of time to proceed with clean dives.
Two white cards for both of my DYNB and DNF dives. It was overwhelming to see all athletes representing their countries and it is an honour to have been able to watch the world’s top freedivers performing in live.
Took many inspirations, learnings and positive emotions with me in my bag when heading back home with 2 x CMAS NR.
Truly grateful for having had the opportunity to live this unique experience, as the first Swiss participating in a CMAS Indoor WC. .
COMPETITION 3: AIDA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP - POOL
The next and this season’s last indoor competition is the AIDA World Championship in Burgas, Bulgaria.
Stay tuned for insights in the next blog posts.
I would like to thank everyone part of this journey for the support, the kind words, the thoughts and just being great.
